The Asset Management section allows you to create Asset Types and defines the Asset Fields associated with that Asset Type. You can add, edit and delete Asset Fields from the website. You can also create custom job templates and update the Asset Fields from within job steps on the mobile app. You can define triggers which cause jobs to be created based on certain events, such as an Asset requiring its next annual inspection.
An asset in GeoPal can be any number of things, for example, Traffic lights, Park benches, Vehicles, Air conditioning units, electricity points, CCTV Camera and much more...
Before starting to add your assets, you will need to configure the Asset section of your GeoPal account to suit your needs. To do this go to ‘Configuration > Asset Config’. Next, you will need to define some details:
Create Jobs on Assets in GeoPal
This is where the Asset Management section integrates with the Job scheduling and dispatch section. You can associate Job Templates with Asset Types. When these jobs are being completed on a mobile device, the data entered on individual job steps can update the appropriate Asset Fields. For example, a 'Get Latitude and Longitude' job step, can update the Latitude and Longitude of the Asset.
To associate a Job Template with an Asset Type, simply select the Asset Type from the drop down list in the image below.
You will see on the Job Workflow steps a new dropdown list. This allows you to select the Asset Field to update from the job step. In the example below, 'Get Precise Latitude and Longitude' will update the Latitude and Longitude Field of the Asset. The job steps can only update similar Asset Fields, for example 'Get Picture' can only update the Asset Picture field and not, for example, the Asset Name field.
Adding an Asset
Once you have configured your Asset management section you can then begin to add your assets. To do this go to ‘Assets’ in the GeoPal Menu. You can add the Assets manually as per the screen shot below.
Alternatively, if you wish to upload multiple Assets at the same time you can choose ‘Upload Assets’. Simply download the already prepared Excel spreadsheet and complete the required information. You need to ensure that you use the provided spreadsheet when uploading back to your GeoPal Account and make sure each asset has a unique identifier.
